• To gain an understanding of domestic
abuse within the current and proposed
legislation and the available legal
protections
• To gain knowledge of the indicators, types
and effects of domestic abuse, addressing
existing societal domestic abuse myths
• To gain an understanding of coercive
control and grooming within the context of
domestic abuse
• To gain an understanding of the impact of
trauma within the context of domestic
abuse
• An awareness of risk indicators to enable
effective risk assessment, safety planning
and consequence management
• Increase understanding and confidence in
creating the conditions disclose and how
to respond and refer
• Increase awareness of the services
available to those experiencing domestic
abuse
