MEDICAL
STAFFING
Daisy Hill is the smallest acute
hospital in the UK and regrettably
is not able to offer the same terms
and working conditions as bigger
hospitals.
The shortage of medical staff,
means that doctors have greater
choice in where to work. Medicine
is highly specialised with doctors
preferring to work where there are
greater volumes of their
specialism with better
infrastructure and support.
There are concerns about patient
safety and absence of onsite
specialty advice and therefore that
patients can't get the access to
treatment that they would like to
have.
The number of locums, and the
lack of consultants are major
concerns.
