Welcome to the Social Services Workforce
Development & Training Programme
2021-2022
Social Work and Social Care staff work in challenging circumstances delivering
services to some of the most vulnerable people in our society, upholding their
rights and independence and promoting their wellbeing and safety. In order to
ensure a high quality responsive service that provides better outcomes for
service users it is vital that our staff are well trained and continually avail of the
opportunities to enhance and maintain knowledge, skills and competence.
The Social Services Workforce Development and Training Team aims to deliver
high quality education, training and professional developmental opportunities
for the Social Work/Social Care workforce. The Team is committed to providing
support to our current and future workforce including support to Social Work
Students, Newly Qualified Social Work staff, development for career
progression for Social Work and Social Care staff and mentorship schemes.
This Training Programme details some of the Continous Professional
Development Courses that are being delivered in 2021-22. We continually
evaluate and review how we deliver training in order to develop the skills of the
workforce in a meaningful way and effectively address emerging issues. In
addition to the comprehensive training programme available, bespoke training
seminars and team support sessions continue to be delivered across all
Directorates as need dictates. Throughout the training year, as legislative,
policy and learning themes arise managers are advised to have contact with
the Social Services Workforce Development and Training Team to agree how
best these additional staff learning and development needs can be addressed.
